Mokume Gane (meaning wood-grained metal) is a Japanese technique that was used to embellish samuari swords. The amount of Mokume Gane used reflected ones social status and wealth.
To create this wood-graned effect I fused alternating layers of fine silver and copper together which was then forged, rolled, and patterned to reveal a unique design.
Due to the labour intensive nature of this technique, Mokume Gane jewellery remains uncommon in the marketplace as it is not able to be mass manufactured.
All Mokume Gane pieces in my store are made by hand - from making the sheet metal to the finished product and is available for a limited time only
